Ching Contracting PE Welding Resources.

Over the last 15 years the volume of welded polyethylene pipe being installed by our clients has been steadily on the increase.
As a result of this Ching Contracting has made a significant investment in the purchase of polyethylene welding equipment and the training and upskilling of our staff in working with PE pipes and fittings.

Butt Fusion Welding.
We currently own two Hurner butt fusion welding units, one CNC315 ECO machines and one CNC500 ECO machine enabling us to butt weld polyethylene pipes from 90mm OD to 500mm OD.
We chose to purchase Hurner butt fusion welders as they one of the most advanced and reliable welders available today. Made in Germany, the ECO series butt welders we have purchased are full CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) ensuring all welds completed are to the highest possible standards and levels of consistency. All welds completed are logged into the onboard memory of the machine and can be subsequently downloaded to a laptop or desktop computer and a full detailed report supplied to the engineer and client.

Each of our butt welding units has been set up with a portable purpose built welding enclosure and power supply to ensure we can provide the optimum welding environment in all weather conditions at our contract sites.

Electrofusion Welding.
In addition to our two butt welding machines we also own one Hurner HST300 Print+ electrofusion welder for installation of various elctrofusion fittings (bends, saddles etc.) and joining of butt welded pipe strings using electrofusion couplers.
As per our butt welding machines, the elctrofusion welding unit is capable of logging all weld information, including GPS location, into onboard memory for later downloading and report generation for the engineer and client.

Welding Staff.
We currently have 8 staff who are formally trained, and hold current qualifications, to perform butt fusion (Unit Standard 10987) and electrofusion (Unit Standard 10980) welding.
Most importantly, all of our staff regularly undertake butt fusion and electrofusion welding in the field ensuring that their practical skills are always 'fresh" in their skill set.

Since expanding our PE welding capabilities we have completed many kilometers of polyethylene pipe welding for Tasman District Council on infrastructure upgrade contracts and for Solid Energy NZ at Stockton Mine for water treatment, conveyance and fire fighting reticulations.
These contracts have involved welding, testing and installation of PE pipelines of all sizes from DN90 to DN500 and all have been completed to the highest standards.
